When planning dates, it is easy to get into a rut. Maybe you see too many movies, or you simply don’t want to sit across from each other at a noisy restaurant again this week. Whatever pattern you have allowed yourselves to fall into, there are always fun, new date ideas that you can slip into ”dating rotation”. It is always ok to stick to what you know works, but it might be time to try some of these other ideas as well. No matter what city you live in, you shouldn’t have to go too far to plan for one of these activities.
Spend a Day at the Park
Every city has at least one park, so you should easily be able to find one that works for you. Have a picnic, bring a Frisbee or a soccer ball, don’t rule out a baseball and gloves, or a football or rugby ball. You could also just take a walk around the area and enjoy the view. Not only is it fun to spend some time outside, but a park is a much better setting for conversation than a crowded movie theater.
Go to the Market
Many different neighborhoods host some kind of farmers’ market or flea market. If none are going on, find some small antique or specialty shop that you have never visited. Check out the tourist shops in your town. Find something that looks interesting to you and go check it out. This allows you two to explore your city and you may find some pretty amazing things!
Go on a Bike Ride or Take a Hike
Explore the parts of your city that you don’t get to see every day. Find a tucked away bike path or check out some local hiking trails. Even if you live in a big city, you can always find these types of attractions. Who knows, maybe your adventure will help you find a new spot like a beach or a meadow to enjoy together.
Be a Tourist for a Day
If you’ve lived in your city for a while, chances are you have probably not done a lot of tourist activities like checking out local landmarks, taking a tour, sightseeing, or going to museums. Create a list of the tourist activities that you would be interested in doing and check a few off every few dates. Go to the Visitor’s Bureau website for your city for ideas. It can be fun to explore your own city and you may even learn something new!
What is so great about these activities is that even if you are on vacation together in some strange city and don’t know what to do, you can always add one of these into your trip, capping the day off with dinner at a popular restaurant. Explore what is out there and enjoy the time that you are spending with your partner.
